Behind the Wheel

…with Donovan Goliath

Not many people know this about me…

But I'm also a fine artist and designer. Also, I have no hair on my arms - it just doesn't grow.

Things that make me laugh the most are...

People who trip and then do that weird giraffe walk to try and recover.

When I was a kid I was…

"My career in comedy has taught me that this industry is cutthroat and if you blink for a second the next young star is coming up to take your place.."

I was a super geek who read the dictionary. I was also in a rap group called Outbreak. (The dictionary came in handy here).

My favourite memory growing up in South Africa is…

Going to visit my family in Cofimvaba and going camping with all my cousins around Port St Johns and Hluleka.

The best holiday I ever had was…

When I shot a tv commercial and had a bit of a holiday in Malindi, Kenya.

My biggest holiday disaster was…

Falling off a scooter in Thailand and scraping most of the skin off my knees and feet. Not pleasant.

My fantasy guest and ultimate travel companion for the greatest road trip of all time would be…

My team ‘Goliath and Goliath’ - we speak so much rubbish and are down for anything. It would actually make a great reality show!

My career in comedy has taught me…

How to hustle and how to be a better, sharper and smarter writer. It's also taught me that this industry is cutthroat and if you blink for a second the next young star is coming up to take your place. You can't be complacent and you have to keep writing to stay funny and relevant.

One day I plan to…

Give it all up and travel the world. I first want to conquer Africa. I also want to paint and teach.

I never travel without…

A great pair of sneakers, my Ray Bans and a sketchbook to draw during transit or quiet times.

My pet peeve is…

People who slurp their coffee and travelers who look for their identification at the last second and hold up the line.

All visitors to South Africa must experience..

More of the gems in the Eastern Cape - most of it is so raw and untouched. For me, it’s easily the most beautiful part of the country.
