Volunteering made easy!

Do Good - Feel Good

Described by media as “the Uber of volunteering” Better SA’s hop-on, hop-off volunteer bus service takes all the hassle out of volunteering. The service is free of charge and each experience is fully facilitated, ensuring that volunteers make the biggest impact in the time they have available. The only requirement from the volunteer is that they book a spot on one the busses and then arrive and hop on. Better SA does the rest!

The bus service runs every Saturday morning between 8am and 12pm from the following hubs:

  • From Illovo heading into Alexandra and surrounds
  • Better SA offers many family-friendly activities and any kids over the age of 3 are welcome to join in.
  • From Broadacres heading into Diepsloot
  • From Roodepoort heading into Soweto
  • From Midrand heading into Olievenhoutbosch

When volunteers arrive at any of the hubs they're greeted by Better SA team leaders who brief them on the community and organisation being visited and the volunteer activity everyone will be participating in. Once there, each volunteer is handed a pack complete with a step-by-step guide on how to complete the activity and all supplies needed. Volunteers spend 90 minutes at the organisation before boarding the bus and heading back to their cars. It doesn't get easier than that!

Volunteer activities include teaching computer skills, playing educational games, typing up hand-written CVs for the unemployed, visiting the elderly and environmental cleanups. Better SA offers many family-friendly activities and any kids over the age of 3 are welcome to join in.

In Joburg and now in Cape Town too!

The reason Better SA is going strong and growing is due to the income-generation side of the organisation which is designing and implementing employee volunteering programmes for corporates such as Uber, Growthpoint Properties, Makro and Volkswagen to name a few. Why not get your family and business on board?
