This hotel is said to be the “largest beagle in the world” and is entirely dog-themed, from its dog-shaped cookies to the 26 carved, decorative dogs by owners and self-taught chainsaw artists Dennis and Frances Conklin… who knew chainsaw art is a genre!

Guests enter the enormous dog inn’s torso from the private second-storey deck, and inside and up another level in the head is a loft room with a cosy alcove in the muzzle. The rate for double occupancy is about R1 892 + Idaho 8% tax per night, and this includes light evening snack foods, in-the-dog breakfast – an expansive continental self-serve breakfast featuring the family Prairie’s Best Fruited Granola – and, of course, the entire big beagle to the one travel party during lodging season from April 1-October 31.

Real dogs are allowed on the proviso: “responsible pets arriving with their well-behaved humans are welcome to stay with prior approval.”
